Vanguard Response Units

Vanguard Response Units (VRUs) are VEIL's deployable specialist formations. They are not a standing army and are not generic assault teams. Each unit exists because a recurring operational problem requires equipment, training and command relationships that cannot be assembled safely during a crisis.

A VRU can include security personnel, scientists, medical staff, pilots, engineers, linguists, divers, digital specialists or negotiators. Personnel may be seconded from Veyrath Security or technical branches but operate under VEIL Response Command while assigned.

Unit numbers are permanent. Callsigns can survive multiple generations of personnel. A unit's presence in a case file therefore indicates capability, not a fixed roster.

The public archive lists only established units whose existence is safe to use in community writing. Authors should not treat a VRU as an automatic solution: deployment has logistical cost, jurisdictional consequences and risk.
