Event
A seventeen-square-kilometre area received dark-colored precipitation for forty-six minutes despite surrounding weather radar indicating only light conventional rain. Samples were primarily water but contained a microscopic carbon-rich structure that did not match known pollen, fungal spores or industrial particulate.
Human effects
Persons exposed outdoors for more than approximately five minutes reported highly similar dreams during the following two nights: a shoreline under a dark sky, repetitive light signals offshore and a sensation of waiting for instructions. No subject reported a compulsion to act on the dream.
Response
PALE LANTERN established medical monitoring and environmental sampling under a public-health cover. No continuing infection has been detected. Collected structures lost integrity after seventy-two hours.
The event remains I3 because the distribution mechanism and potential for recurrence are unknown, not because observed symptoms were severe.
